Soul Surfers DR was created from the passion of a dedicated group of surfers who recognized the transformative power of the ocean and wanted to share it with the next generation. United by a common vision, we set out to create an opportunity for local kids from low-income backgrounds, igniting their spirits with the thrill of surfing while instilling important values that would guide them on and off the waves.

Our journey began with a simple idea: to train, coach, and mentor young surfers in our community, providing them with the support and resources they needed to thrive. Thanks to the unwavering support from Parallel Surf and the goodwill of our community, we were able to equip these eager learners with the necessary gear and guidance to navigate not only the waters but also their dreams.

Their eagerness to learn, improve, and compete fueled our motivation, prompting us to invest our time, energy, and love into helping them achieve their dreams—whether that means becoming competitive surfers, instructors, or simply enjoying the ocean for fun.

As time passed, the results of their training were undeniable as they began to excel in competitions, achieving victories that sparked not just pride but a ripple effect within the community. Their accomplishments drew the attention of other children and parents, leading us to expand our vision and establish a surf academy that encompassed the same foundational principles of mentorship and support we had cultivated for our low-income youth.

The creation of Soul Surfers DR Academy not only allowed us to reach more aspiring surfers but also ensured that our dedicated coaches could rely on a sustainable income. Every donation and support from our community directly benefits our kids, reinforcing the sense of purpose that permeates our organization.

Since our inception in August 2024, we have experienced remarkable growth in a remarkably short time. Our impact continues to expand, fueled by the love and encouragement from parents, supporters, and the Playa Encuentro community. As we ride the waves of this incredible journey, we remain deeply grateful for the kindness and belief that have propelled us forward.
